DO AT IT

school starts on tuesday.

do you ever feel like there's some point in your life where something is just IMMINENT and something's not going to NOT happen, so you might as well just suck it up and do at it? (I coined the phrase. "Do at it." I kind of like it. I was going to say "go at it" but then I realized that that was actually a phraseology...and it wasn't a necessarily very nicely connoted phraseology...so I changed the "go" to "do.")

It's bad grammar, I know, but it gives me some creative release.

like, unless a meteor comes down and crushes my high school under its surging weight or the rapture occurs or something, i can't avoid school. and complaining about it is not going to get me anywhere in life (where does complaining ever get you? nowhere. well, actually, somewhere, but not anywhere near where you'd want to be.)

so i actually sucked it up last night and studied. and after i write this post and pedal and burn off some of the souplantation i ate earlier today, i am going to go back to the grind and study. because guess what? i have the capability to do so, i have the time to do so, and i have the drive (kind of).

so if you're shirking from anything...DO AT IT. OR DO IT. JUST DO IT. DO AT IT. whatever slogan you want to use, do it. i myself have a bunch of things to do at the moment, so i'll bow out right now, but I'LL SEE YOU GUYS ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE HORIZON.

don't know where that came from...hahahahahaha.

oh, and i posted a new youtube video! you should watch it! i attempted to use iMovie and am way too perky in the video! hopefully you don't get annoyed!!!!

also, tori kelly is performing at the VMAs tonight!!! i'm fairly sure she isn't going to twerk, so this is definitely a class up from that miley cyrus performance two years ago!!! !!!

!!!!!!!!

let's! all! be! perky !! !!!! together!!!!!

MACBOOK AIR, SHIPPING LUCAYA, AND 6 DAYS UNTIL SCHOOL || The End of Summer with Rcubed

DEAR PEOPLE. THIS IS A MONUMENTAL POST.

I GOT A MACBOOK AIR!!!!!!!!

Don't think I'm super spoiled and bratty or something. (Please don't. I entreat you. I am not...hopefully.) My sixteenth birthday is coming up in September (*freaks out internally b/c  i still feel like i'm 12*) and I asked for a new computer for my birthday because my old one was being a wacko, with Windows 10 and all. (I've had it for 3 years.)

This morning, I was going about my daily business, thinking about Lucaya (which I'll share more about in a second) and trying to get stuff done before I went to the library, WHEN I LOOKED AT MY DESK AND I REALIZED THAT THERE WAS A MACBOOK ON IT.

I FREEEEEEAAAKKKKKEEEDDDDDDDDD.

My birthday isn't for a month still, but my mom told me there was a sale (there always is; I mean, let's be honest) and my dad wanted me to be adjusted and all that stuff before school starts in a week. SO YAY.

I'm typing on it right now and it feels really weird. I keep on thinking I'm going to break it or something, because it's really slender and thin and ethereal and I'm almost convinced this is a dream. Is it?

I don't really know.

Anyway, I have a new computer, which means new videos, and so hopefully expect one more before school starts on September 1st for me.

-----------------------

LUCAYA LUCAYA LUCAYA LUCAYA LUCAYA LUCAYA LUCAYA.

OKAY, for those of you who don't know, I'm kind of obsessed with the Disney Channel show Girl Meets World. I'm actually obsessed with a lot of Disney Channel shows and Disney Channel stars and basically Disney TV shows in general (this is where you're thinking, Wow, she really DOES act like a tween--and by the way, Peyton List's character in Bunk'd gets so much growth), but GMW is my fave.

Anyway, I have the series recorded on my TV, and recently the episodes have gotten a lot more...interesting.

See, the plot follows the main character (Riley) who's awkward and sunny and adorkable. Her best friend is Maya, who comes from a pretty bad family life and who's the burnt bacon to Riley's sunny-side-up eggs. (Sorry, best analogy I could think of there.)

And then there's this guy named Lucas, who used to live in Texas and has a slight twang and is kinda easy on the eyes. (peyton meyer. haha. haha. hurrrrr.)

from his imdb

He and Riley are kind of a "thing" (they have a ship name--Rucas--and a whole fandom of tumblr and Instagram and twitter folks), but to be honest...they have kind of similar personalities, Riley's always super awkward around him, and both of them are insanely nice. It's cute but it's awkward.

from rowan blanchard's imdb. she's only 13. HOW CAN SHE BE ONLY 13?!!!

Lucas and Maya, on the other hand, have a sort of hate-hate relationship. (It's adorable and funny and GAHHH their banter is like the best ever.) They call each other by nicknames and Maya has this little move where she gets right up in his face and insults him. (IT'S REALLY FUNNY. IF YOU WATCH THE SHOW, YOU FEEL ME. HUR HURRRRRRR.) They also have a ship name, Lucaya, which in my opinion is a much better ship name than Rucas and they have so much more chemistry. Maya complements Lucas' niceness. (and plus Sabrina Carpenter is like my favorite Disney Channel star ever.)

(from her website)

The past couple of episodes ("Girl Meets Yearbook," "Girl Meets Semi-Formal," and "Girl Meets Creativity") have kind of explored those two relationships more in-depth, and lately there have been tiny revelations...I won't spoil them, but let's just say that it makes me think that Lucaya could actually be a thing. LIKE ACTUALLY BE A THING.

I was up last night thinking about it, and I looked at the Girl Meets World writers' Twitter (yeah, that's a thing, and it's like the best thing ever) AND I WAS DYING BECAUSE THEY ACTUALLY MIGHT BECOME A THING. (sorry i'm saying "thing" way too many times.)

So here's my conspiracy theory: Maya and Lucas will accidentally do something that will hurt Riley's feelings, and "Girl Meets Forgiveness Project" will be about how they repair those relationships.

and then some little know-it-all on Instagram who was commenting on a Lucaya account (THIS IS LIKE THE MOST IN-DEPTH I'VE EVER GOTTEN INTO A FANDOM, GUYS. IT WAS CRAZY.) apparently went to the live taping of "Girl Meets Rileytown" and spoiled something for me, and THIS IS WHY YOU DON'T GET INVOLVED IN FANDOMS, GUYS. (i learned my lesson.)

i'm sad. but HAPPY. but sad. BUT HAPPY.

Oh, and in a month the episode that I went to the live taping of ("Girl Meets Cory and Topanga") will be airing!!!!!!! !!!!!    !!!!!!!!!!!   !!!!

So if you tune into Disney Channel then you might be able to hear me laugh!!!!

"I'm Rachel from Girl Meets World, and you're watching Disney Channel!"

haha. so that's that. i'm sorry. YOU SHOULD WATCH THE SHOW. and then we should discuss it. (do you watch GMW? what do you think? who do you ship?)

-----------------------------------------

and now i'm finally attempting to accept the fact that summer is almost over. mostly because i still have to do SAT stuff, so I don't get rusty before the test on October 3rd. when will the grind ever end, folks?? WHEN?????

*sighs*

TOODLES.

SUMMER RECAP 2015

Dear God,

Please don't let summer end. Please. PLEASE. I'M BEGGING YOU. PLEASE.

Love,
Rachel.

----------------------------------------

Unfortunately, the world will keep rotating. The earth will keep revolving. And THE SEASONS WILL PASS BY.

So, I decided, why not do a summer recap of all the posts and things that I've written and done during the summer?

REWIND TO JUNE OF 2015.

On Friday, June 12th, I posted about my Summer Bucket List and the very first video that I created on my YouTube channel!

Let's, um, see how well I did with my reading/watching list...

Reading
The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald (nope)
Catch-22, by Joseph Heller (nope)
One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, by Ken Kesey (nope)
The Catcher in the Rye, by J.D. Salinger (yes...and Holden annoyed me to no end. But he was ok.)
Slaughterhouse-Five, by Kurt Vonnegut (haha....no)
Wuthering Heights, by Emily Bronte (it's a novel written in the Gothic time period. I read Frankenstein, and I disliked it immensely. I made a voluntary decision not to read Wuthering Heights.)
The Outsiders, by S.E. Hinton (YES I DID AND IT WAS AMAZING AND I ALMOST CRIED--NOT REALLY--BUT IT WAS SUPER EMOTIONAL. EVERYONE NEEDS TO READ THIS BOOK.)

Watching
The Breakfast Club (no)
Breakfast at Tiffany’s (no)
Back to the Future (I WILL WATCH THIS SOON. IT'S 2015. I HAVE TO.)
Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (yes; matthew broderick was casted perfectly.)
Jaws (yes, and i actually liked it)
Titanic (no)
Les Mis (no)

So basically...I read 2 books and watched 2 movies that I was going to originally read. Whoops. I'm a terrible person. (but to be fair I was quite busy this summer.)

As for my stack of theology books, I'm nearly halfway through Total Truth (it's thick and it's deep <-- basically my excuse for everything). My whole plan shebang didn't work out quite as well as I thought it did, but I'm very happy with my summer and I'll continue the lists when I have time.

On Friday, June 19th, I taught you guys how to be artsy and took lots of pictures of paint.

On July 14th, I went to a live taping of the Disney Channel show Girl Meets World!

Here are all my Hawaii posts (July 20-July 28)

On July 30th, I ranted about Trying to Grow Up. It was a very well-received post, and I thank all of you for your wonderful comments.

On August 7th, I told you guys how to cope with back to school!

On Friday, August 14th, I told you all about my latest trip to LA!

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR STICKING ALL THE WAY THROUGH MY SUMMER SERIES AND I HOPE WE HAVE MANY MORE WONDERFUL ADVENTURES. <3

Toodles,
~Rcubed~

I WANT TO MEET PEOPLE!!!!!

I'm not a very social person. I'm quite selective about my friends. I can be extroverted around certain people, but I'm mostly introverted a lot of the time. For a long time, my blog didn't grow at all because I didn't get around and network and meet people (and over two years later, I have almost 40 followers...which is stinking awesome!)

But guess what?

I'M GOING TO MEET EVERYONE!!!! ALL THE PEOPLE!!!! ALL THE PEOPLE!!!!!!!! Okay? I was looking through my follower feed, and I realized that I only really keep track of two bloggers, and that has GOT to change. I need to start commenting more. Start following more. I'm pretty loose with the following button already; I'll give myself that. But I'm not proactive enough. I don't take enough initiative online. (I'm too lazy. I know. Everything's at the touch of a button, and I'm too lazy.)

I will probably find you anyway, because I'm going to go through a bunch of posts and click on a bunch of links and things and comment and stuff in the two weeks that I have left before school starts, but if you'd like me to check out your blog more effectively, comment the following questions below:

1. Name?
2. Age?
3. Blog URL?
4. Weird thing about yourself that you'd like me to know for whatever reason?

THANKS! CAN'T WAIT TO SEE ALL YOUR BLOGS!

THINGS, STUFF + A TRIP TO LOS ANGELES (yet again)

HOW ARE YOU GUYS DOING???

I just wanted to write this post to outline a couple of things that will be happening, what with the upcoming school year and all.

Junior year is a big deal. You take all the important tests and try to get good grades. Sophomore year counted, but junior year really counts, and I want to do the best I can possibly do, as I'm trying to get into a good college. (My goal is UCLA. I'm fairly sure that I'm not going to get in, but I'm going to try to aim there, so even if I do get rejected I have a pretty good resume of things I can do.)

What with school, family, church, and everything, I will probably be cutting back on this blog. I won't post on specific set days. There may or may not be gaps in posting. (I really don't know.) I'm going to make a list of my priorities, and while I do this blog as a major pastime of mine, obviously it's not at the very top of the list. I'll also probably have a lot more homework this year, and tennis season starts right off the bat.

I'll still be attempting to upload YouTube videos and blogging, but please bear with me as the posting dates may be a bit..gappy? jagged? i don't know.

I also have a few ideas for other things, and I might be transferring out of this blog or making it private (but it won't happen right away. just maybe sometime this year or next).

Anyway, I took a bunch of pictures when I went to Los Angeles with a friend of mine, so here they are!

GAHHHH THE FOOD WAS SO GOOD. I had the best salted caramel ice cream and waffle cone I've ever had in my entire life (not kidding), and if you ever get the opportunity to try a horchata (a Mexican cinnamon milk drink...IT'S SOO OOOOO OOOO  OOO good), DO IT. We went to a hipster taco place called Guisado's, a pizza place, and an ice cream shop called Carmela. We also went to what's called The Last Bookstore, which is a GIANT labyrinth of books and records and things that was just totally awesome. If you guys ever get out to the LA area, you should go to all the places.

On another note, SAT boot camp is DONNE!! I finished on Thursday (yesterday) and am FABULOUSLY EXCITED that it is over. (too many caps...I'm sorry. typical day in the life with rachel.) I have to go to an extension program to make sure that my brain doesn't fry out by the time the actual test rolls around (the actual SAT date is October 3rd), but I've got a week or two off, so I'm stoked.

Thanks so much for bearing with me!

(Let me know if you guys can see the pictures...I had to copy & paste because there was a problem on my computer. I have lots of problems with  my computer.)

HOW TO DEAL WITH BACK TO SCHOOL

Disclaimer:

**This is meant to be a sarcastic post. Do not follow these instructions or you will probably deal with awful consequences.**

IT'S BACK TO SCHOOL AND GUESS WHO'S FREAKING OUT?????

We all are! Backpacks! Clothes! Friends! Ex-friends! Losing too many hairbands! A haircut! Highlights??? Dyes?? Principal's slips??? School pictures!!!!!!!!!!

!!!!!!!!!!!ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!

So I, Rachel or Rcubed, have come up with a list of reasons how to avoid this madness! You should follow these reasons! They're really awesome!!

1. DON'T WATCH TV. AT ALL. OR YOUTUBE, PARTICULARLY NOT BEAUTY GURUS' YOUTUBE VIDEOS.

IT IS A CHEMICAL SENSATION THAT HAS ATTACKED THE GREAT AND WONDROUS NATION OF AMERICA (and other countries too!!!!!). Back-to-school commercials! "#BackToSchoolWithBeth"! Cutesy little hashtag things that are supposed to make you excited to go back to school again! Yaaay! Yaaaaaaay! Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!

no. not really. cute outfits and heightened saturations and "fun diys" that every pinterest person already knows how to make really do not make me excited for back-to-school. if anything, they make me more depressed.

#BoycottBacktoSchool

2. DON'T GO TO TARGET.

Target always has a section dedicated to back to school. Cheap backpacks for your excited elementary schooler! Purple planners for the most motivated! Fancy tab thingies and gel pens (for the kindergarteners who don't yet know the meaning of the phrase "blue or black pen only") and mechanical pencils for people who press lightly and Ticonderoga #2s for people who press too hard (like me).

Just don't go to Target. At all.

3. WHO EVEN CAME UP WITH THE PHRASE 'BACK TO SCHOOL' ANYWAY??!?!???/1///23R///G

How uncreative is that? Like seriously? "Hey, guys, our kids are all going back to school, so guess what we should call our sale? The 'Back to School Sales Event of the Summer'!"

genius. like seriously, genius.

4. GET AN AFFIDAVIT AND GET HOMESCHOOLED.

All this back-to-school shebang always makes me reminisce how AMAZING it was to be homeschooled. I'm sure in high school it was different, but I had a lot more time when I was homeschooled in elementary school and junior high.

So why not go back? Or at least try it out for a week? Get an affidavit, and get homeschooled!! Yaaaay!!

5. WHY DOES EVERYONE START IN AUGUST NOW???

Remember when the start date used to be September? Fall leaves, apple cider, warm sweaters, freshly sharpened pencils, red apples (MY BIRTHDAY?!) ?? Now guess what? A lot of people start in August, and everyone has that sour feeling in their mouths, kind of like they just drank lemonade that got stale. Or something poetical like that. I don't know. Poetical stuff is only good during summer and winter. And guess what? Thanks to back to school things, IT'S NOT REALLY SUMMER ANYMORE.

I still start in September, but it's September 1st. Before Labor Day. I'm guessing next year they'll move it up to August. I'll be a senior by then, so I probably won't care as much, but still.

6. Don't read this post. Obviously I don't know how to deal with Back to School.

Probably the best piece of advice I'll give you yet.

Stay stellar.

And Windows 10 is still stinking like a pile of dead vulture carcasses with flies and other vultures buzzing around them. So please stick with me and stay subscribed to my channel while I figure this whole biz out.

COMPUTERS CONFUSE ME & SCHOOL IS ALMOST BEGINNING AGAIN

A couple things:

1. I'M SO SORRY I DON'T HAVE A VIDEO FOR YOU GUYS TODAY. Here's the deal: my computer got Windows 10. Here's the deal: I haven't yet figured out how to import pictures and videos to my computer, and I messed the thing up on my mom's computer, so I DON'T HAVE A VIDEO. I'm sorry. But I promise: as soon as I get my dad to figure it out, I WILL MAKE A VIDEO. I don't care how much it takes. I WILL. (And I'll upload it as soon as it's done.)

I'm trying to find an appropriate tag to do; I've already done the TMI Tag and the Common White Girl Tag on here, and the other random questions ones and beauty ones are kind of irrelevant to me and boring. Any suggestions? Or should I do a challenge? If so, more suggestions? ANY SUGGESTIONS AT ALL? (I'd written something out, but I've decided to do that for next week's video, and a tag/challenge for this week's. S/o to Elise for asking me to do one; they're easier to film and edit.)

2. SCHOOL IS ALMOST BEGINNING AGAIN. I start on September first, which, to be fair, is nearly a month from now, but I still have to do AP Bio homework and it's suiting up to be bad. Another problem: I'm getting really busy. This week we have Vacation Bible School (VBS) Monday through Friday evening at my church, which I'm helping out with, and I'm in my second-to-last week of SAT boot camp, and I have tennis camp in the morning. It's crazy, I tell you. In the end, I spend only about two hours per day at my house during the actual day, and I get home at around 9:30 p.m.

3. SUMMER IS ALMOST OVER. For some people, it actually is. Can you believe it?! I honestly can't. I CAN'T. I REFUSE TO ACCEPT IT.

R.I.P. summer.

But guess what?! IT'S MY SECOND-TO-LAST SUMMER BEING A GRADE SCHOOL STUDENT. Can you believe that?! I can't!

Anyway, new things are coming up. interesting things are coming up. i'm fairly sure of that.
